Elder Care Navigator
Care guidance for families of aging parents

The hospital says Mom can go home Friday. Now what?

I help families choose the right level of care, compare facilities, and get through the move without guessing. I've spent 24 years as a CNA inside skilled nursing, hospitals, memory care, and home care, so I know what to ask and what to look for.

Facing a decision this week? Book the Care Decision Call ($250): a 90-minute call by phone or video, and you leave with a written action plan. Still exploring? Start with a free 20-minute call.

Sound familiar?

Most families start here, in a hurry, and on their own.

Dad fell again, and you're not sure he can stay in the house.

The hospital handed you a list of facilities and gave you two days.

Mom's memory is slipping, and nobody will tell you whether she needs memory care yet.

You live three hours away and your siblings disagree about what to do.

You toured a place that looked beautiful, but something felt off.

You're working full time and caring for a parent, and you're exhausted.

Levels of care

Your first decision is the level of care, not the facility.

Families often pick a building before they know what level of care their parent needs. I start by working that out with you.

Least support

In-home care

Aides come to the house for bathing, meals, and medication reminders.

Some support

Independent living

An apartment with meals and activities. No hands-on care.

Daily help

Assisted living

Help with dressing, bathing, and medications, with staff on site around the clock.

Secured, specialized

Memory care

A secured unit and dementia-trained staff for wandering and confusion.

Most support

Skilled nursing

24-hour nursing, rehab after a hospital stay, or long-term medical care.

I've worked in every one of these settings.

How a Care Decision Call works

From booking to a plan in three steps

Book and tell me what's happening

Choose a time. A short intake form asks about your parent's health, where they live now, and your deadline.

We talk for 90 minutes

We go through the care level, your choices, costs and coverage questions, and who in the family does what.

You get a written plan

Within 24 hours you'll have a step-by-step action plan with the exact questions to ask.

About your navigator

Vera Quee, CNA

24 yrsas a Certified Nursing Assistant
4care settings, from home care to skilled nursing

I've been at the bedside for 24 years in skilled nursing, hospitals, memory care units, and people's homes. I've seen which facilities are well run and which only look good on a tour. I know the questions families wish they had asked sooner.

I've also watched families make huge decisions in a hospital hallway with no one on their side. I started Elder Care Navigator so you'd have someone who understands this world on your side.

I'm a mom of five boys based in Minnesota, and I work with families by phone and video.

Free checklist

10 Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Care Facility

These are the questions I would ask on any tour, and most brochures leave them out. Print the checklist, take it along, and compare each place side by side.

Send me the checklist
  1. What is your staff-to-resident ratio on the night shift and on weekends?
  2. How long have your current nurses and aides worked here?
  3. What happens if Mom's needs increase? Can she stay, or will she have to move?

The other 7 questions are in the free checklist.

Questions

Common questions

Are you a nurse or a doctor?

No. I'm a Certified Nursing Assistant with 24 years of hands-on experience. I don't give medical advice or diagnoses. I help you understand your options, ask better questions, and work with your parent's medical team.

Do you get paid by the facilities you recommend?

No. Families pay me directly, so my only job is to help you find the right fit. Some free "placement services" are paid by facilities. I am not one of them.

Can you help if my parent lives in another state?

Yes. I work by phone and video, so the questions, the plan, and the tour guidance apply wherever your parent lives.

What if we need help right away?

Book the earliest open time and note your deadline in the intake form. I'll let you know if I can't meet it.

Does insurance or Medicare pay for this?

No. Care navigation is a private-pay service. During our call we'll go over what Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term care insurance may cover for your parent's care itself.

You don't have to figure this out alone.

One 90-minute call can turn a rushed decision into a clear plan.
